Earlier this year, the Parisian wunderkind Arno Cost unveiled a new sound with his first 2-track EP, titled “Coming Alive“. The standout title song, featuring vocals by the talented River, was an instant milestone for Cost, who experimented with more traditional house and progressive house styles on the EP. Now Arno‘s home record label, Protocol Recordings, has announced the “Coming Alive” official remix package. If you liked the original, there’s something for everyone in the three renditions from some of the hottest new talent in the scene - Protocol debutants Simon De Jano & Madwill, Jimny and affiliate Exit Friendzone.
The spine-tingling version from Simon De Jano & Madwill opens the package. An electro house bomb that will have dance floors throbbing around the globe. Next up, the relatively unknownJimny with his mellow, deep house take on “Coming Alive“, and with one listen to the chilled-out bootleg, it’s evident that the music world is going to become quickly familiar with his name. Finally there’s a funky and futuristic version by Exit Friendzone, featuring lively piano riffs and a summery vibe; Exit Friendzone might sound familiar from “Protocol Presents Miami 2016” earlier this year, on which his track “Crossfire” was featured. Check out all three fabulous versions of “Coming Alive” and stay tuned for more from these talented up-and-comers!

With Nicky Romero’s original instrumental version already smashing hundreds of thousands of plays worldwide, it was just a matter of time before he had a chance to give it a proper revitalization with ‘The Moment’. Proving to be a mainstage masterpiece laced with spiraling synths and a bouncing bassline, Nicky truly enhances the euphoric melody of the track. Working in an impeccable orchestral breakdown of layered piano chords, sublime strings and uplifting vocals, Romero utilizes them all to a stirringly dramatic effect creating a larger than life atmosphere primed for the festival airwaves.
Foreshadowing the future of Protocol on a personal level, Romero named his instrumental version after Protocol’s newest arrival, Novell El Khatib, the newborn son of his tour manager and friend, Hatim. This gesture is a nod to Romero’s emphasis on the familial nature of Protocol, and perhaps represents the birth of a new chapter for his own musical endeavors.
2016 has undoubtedly been one of the most sensational years ever for Nicky Romero. With this release, the label head and storied producer has successfully launched his brand into the summer, and has all but guaranteed countless spins on the upcoming festival circuit. Having performed for a sold out crowd at his very own Protocol Recordings show in Miami, toured Asia, and hosted the Protocol stage at this year’s Tomorrowland Brasil, Nicky Romero isn’t planning on putting on the brakes anytime soon. With the announcement of the Protocol Recordings ‘Get Connected’ tour, and upcoming original content, the coming months are looking incredibly promising for the Dutch Mega star.
Blinders – You Don’t Know
He may only be twenty one years old, but Blinders‘ take on house music is anything but juvenile. The Polish DJ and producer made waves on Protocol Recordings’ Miami 2015 compilation with the epic-sounding tracks “Sirene” (released as a single in 2014), collaboration with Tom Tyger “Luminate”, and his newest release “You Don’t Know” further bolsters his career’s bright future. “You Don’t Know” begins with strong percussive beats that leads the listener to believe they are in for a hard-hitting electro drop, but then adds an unexpected twist with funky riffs and groovy rhythms that gives the track a unique, hybrid vibe. “You Don’t Know” is adaptable and vivacious, lending itself equally well to the club or the festival main stage. Regardless of where it’s being played, this smashing tune is about to heat up dance floors around the globe.
Blinders has crafted his lively, dynamic sound around tracks like “You Don’t Know”, and his music found a perfect home on Nicky Romero’s Protocol Records. He performed as part of the Protocol ADE showcase last year, and then had the honor of mixing the label’s 2016 Miami compilation together with Florian Picasso. Blinders released his hit “Sirene” in 2014, which reached more than 1.2 million plays on Spotify, followed by another dance floor killer, “Luminate”, the next year. Dance music heavyweights and tastemakers such as Hardwell, Tiesto, Pete Tong and Martin Garrix have all given utmost support to the young Polishman’s music. “You Don’t Know” is bound to be a fan favorite this season, and Blinders is set to make 2016 his best year yet.
Florian Picasso – Final Call
For all of its history, dance music embodies the beauty of living in the moment with someone special.Florian Picasso, the great grandson of the world famous artist Pablo Picasso, enables listeners to relive such magical experiences on his newest track “Final Call“, his third release on house mega-label Protocol Recordings. Featuring emotive lyrics over a lively melody, “Final Call” comes to its pinnacle with an electro-influenced drop that elevates it from sing-a-long status to club-friendly tune. “Final Call” comes just in time for the height of festival season for Protocol and is guaranteed to have main stage crowds jumping in unison.
Florian Picasso burst onto the radar of fans and industry members alike with his hit “Origami” last year, which was chosen as track of the year by DJ Mag France. His blend of progressive house infused with energetic, electro-tinged drops is dynamic enough to fit both the club and festival circuit, making Florian a rising star in the EDM scene. Today’s music is always evolving, and Florian is at the forefront of developing a fresh sound for the modern era of the progressive house genre. The vocal rendition of “Origami“, entitled “Want it Back“, was another hit, having reached 2.5 million plays on Spotify. Protocol‘s support of Florianwas personified when he mixed the Protocol presents Miami 2016 compilation in March with fellow member Blinders. After performances at ADE and Miami earlier this year, Florian‘s future is looking bright indeed. Press play on “Final Call” and fast forward to the new era of progressive house music!
Nicky Romero – Novell
Dutch phenomenon Nicky Romero cements his return to the production fore with his eagerly awaited solo single ‘Novell’ – out now via his very own Protocol Recordings imprint.
Receiving its worldwide premiere from Steve Angello during his main stage set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami last month, the transcendent track instantly sparked the curiosity of festival goers and fans across the world, all desperate to find out who was behind one of the most highly-anticipated IDs of this year’s festival. A main stage melodic masterpiece, laced with spiraling synths and a bouncing bassline, Romero works in an impeccable orchestral breakdown of uplifting piano chords and sublime strings to immense dramatic effect. An anthem of truly epic proportions, brimming with Nicky’s electrifying energy and flawless style, ‘Novell’ could only have come from the master of progressive house himself.
A celebration of new beginnings and a nod to the future both musically and personally, Nicky has chosen to name his second solo offering of the year after Protocol’s newest arrival. Born in January this year, Novell El Khatib, is the son of Nicky’s tour manager and good friend, Hatim and the most recent addition to the Protocol Family.
With 2016 in full swing, Nicky has been pulling out all the stops to ensure this is one of his most sensational years yet. Having already released the mammoth second part of his Nicky Romero Trilogy – the much acclaimed collaboration with Nile Rodgers ‘Future Funk’ – performed to yet another sold out crowd for his Protocol Recordings show at Icon, Miami, as well as toured Asia and hosted his very own Protocol stage at this year’s Tomorrowland Brasil, the Dutch mega star isn’t about to put on the brakes any time soon. Having just announced the Protocol Recordings ‘Get Connected’ tour and with several new releases in the pipeline, not to mention the third installment of the Nicky Romero Trilogy, this is just a taste of what Romero has in store.
Nicky Romero & Nile Rodgers – Future Funk (Remixes)
“Future Funk“, the collaborative work between Nicky Romero and Nile Rodgers, which is also a part ofNicky‘s Trilogy releases, rises to new and intoxicating levels with the release of the remix package. The remixes from S-Man (aka Roger Sanchez), Giocatori and Sam Void offer a fresh take on the rousing track, perfectly capturing each artist’s unique perspective, while never losing site of the original’s electrifying appeal..
Following its epic event at Miami Music Week at Icon, Protocol Recordings keeps emerging as a leader among the record labels. Now bringing legendary Roger Sanchez aka S-Man on board who joins the label for the first time. The Grammy award winning artist (“Best Remixed Recording” in 2003), known for his enthralling remixes delivers his unique interpretation of “Future Funk“. Straight to the point tech-house vibe S-Man is known for.
Of course there’s something for progressive house lovers in the remix package too as there are Giocatoriand Sam Void delivering their versions. Sam, before getting his hands on Nicky & Nile‘s track, collaborated with Volt & State and Avedon on “Hold On“, which landed at the #4 spot on Beatport’s Progressive Housechart. Also his tune “Reachless” was included on the “Protocol Presents Miami 2016” – mixed by Florian Picasso and Binders. Giocatori is at it again and remixes Nicky Romero for the second time. They did a great job last time with his future trap remix of Nicky‘s collab with Volt & State ”Warriors” (released in June of 2015) so there is no surprise that Protocol‘s boss asked the Dutch trio for a remix once again.

Corey James & Teamworx – Make The Crowd Go ft. Kobi The Alien
Nicky Romero’s Dance Imprint Protocol Recordings is proud to welcome back Corey James and introduce both Teamworx and Kobi The Alien. In his second Protocol release, following his Tom Tyger collab “Naboo“, and his John Christian & Arin Tone collab “Collage” that became a staple in Nicky Romero’s sets, Liverpool’s Corey James called on Israeli DJ duo Teamworx and Israeli rapper Kobi The Alien to help him “Make The Crowd Go.” This electro-house tune was played by Steve Angello during his Ultra Main-stage set and by Corey himself at Life In Color Manchester’s Protocol Stage.
In the vocal mix, Kobi The Alien’s verses are down-pitched to fit the darker, club-ready sound of the track. The verse spirals us into a bouncy bass-drop with angelic chords in the transition. In the second half of the drop, the bassline is thickened with a higher-register synth that the fire of this track. It’s no surprise that the release charted in the top 10 on Beatport’s electro-house chart.
The Protocol team showed their love for this bass-driven, garage-stab-filled tune by featuring its instrumental mix in their Miami Compilation. Fans can expect to see Corey James at festival stages internationally, starting with his set at Creamfields 2016.
As a home to bubbling producers, Protocol Records gives them the platform they deserve. 2016 will see their all-star roster at Protocol Stages from Belgium’s Daydream Festival to Tomorrowland Brasil.
Arno Cost – Coming Alive EP
The Parisian wunderkind Arno Cost is back with a new sound on his first EP, ‘Coming Alive‘, which will be released on Nicky Romero’s label Protocol Recordings. The two-song EP is a voyage of discovery for the young Parisian producer as he experiments with stricter house and progressive house styles on ‘1000 Suns‘ and the title track ‘Coming Alive‘ featuring beautiful vocals by River. You may recognise her voice from the hit record she made with Tobtok, called ‘Fast Car‘ which rose to the top of the UK charts. Arno Cost has already been a household name in the French electronic scene for quite some time now, and this new project ensures that he will continue the legacy of fellow French house heavy hitters like Martin Solveig, Bob Sinclair, and David Guetta. The ‘Coming Alive EP‘ demonstrates Cost’s prowess as a dynamic artist with the ability to lend his touch to different industries at ease. In line with the release, Protocol Recordings has started to expand its artist repertoire to release a broader range of music, and picking up Arno Cost was a power play.
Every rising star reaches a point where they break through the masses and into the vast atmosphere of full potential. 2015 was that year for Arno Cost. The Parisian producer has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the international dance music scene; he built his personal brand by creating a masterful blend of disco, house and pop that captivated fans and industry critics around the world. He also developed a new brand called ‘When in Paris‘, being a radio show and a tour concept. Last year’s accomplishments included ‘Coming Home’, an Insomniac-sponsored remix contest for ‘Rising Love’ and teaming up with WAVO for the release of ‘At Night’. With its gorgeous instrumental melodies and supercharged rhythms, the ‘Coming Alive EP‘ is only the beginning of this new sonic wave for Arno Cost.

Nicky Romero & Nile Rodgers – Future Funk is OUT NOW!
Dutch dynamo Nicky Romero ensures a sensational start to the year as he unveils his captivating collaboration with music icon Nile Rodgers on the phenomenal ‘Future Funk’ – out now via his very own Protocol Recordings imprint.
A record that first took shape whilst the pair were hanging out in a studio session together with David Guetta in LA, as Nile was busy exercising his recently repaired guitar, his experimental riff caught Nicky’s ear who, instantly recognizing its potential, immediately recorded it into his laptop for future use. Adding the instantly infectious guitar licks to a beat and layering them with an irresistibly catchy melody and striking vocals, ‘Future Funk’ is an effortless fusion of Nile’s inimitable disco rhythms and Nicky’s ever evolving sound. It’s a testament to both Nile’s extraordinary talent and Nicky’s exceptional instinct that something which started life as a rudimentary riff has been lifted and honed into a superb piece of dance meets pop perfection.
WATCH ‘PART TWO: FUTURE FUNK’ (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
Last year, Dutch dynamo Nicky Romero signaled a new creative direction as he unveiled the first part of the self-titled Nicky Romero Trilogy – a pioneering and imaginative audiovisual journey unlike anything the prolific producer had done before. With Part One still eliciting intrigue amongst fans into its melancholic yet hopeful meaning, Romero has opted to release the second video installment to coincide with the release of its musical counterpart. Going further back in time in Jon’s life, Part Two is a parody of the dark underside of the 80s wall street scene, with a cast of frivolous financiers playing around in a world of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Set a decade later in the 90s, the short film perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the frantic fast-paced world it is relaying. Frequent flashes of business deals, debaucherous acts and boardroom rivalries with the occasional ‘Lighthouse’ snapshot the only reminder of a life beyond, the scenes are seemingly spurred on by the song’s punchy synths and racing riff. Offering viewers a glimpse into this warped world, the story focuses on the protagonist’s rapid decline as his seemingly high-flying life goes worryingly awry culminating in an unwelcome but not altogether unexpected visit from the FBI…
2016 is set to be a career defining moment for Nicky Romero. The global megastar has just got back from an incredible trip to South Africa where he joined forces with Olmeca Tequila to fly 100 fans from all over the world for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to party with Nicky and the entire Protocol family. With more creative and out of the box campaigns ready to roll out in the coming months and ‘Future Funk’ just a glimpse of what’s in store on the production front, expect nothing short of epic as 2016 continues to unwind.
Volt & State, Sam Void, Avedon – Hold On is OUT NOW!
Supported by: Martin Garrix, W&W, Tommy Trash, Thomas Gold, Stadiumx & more!
Volt & State have teamed up with Sam Void, whose track “Young” was featured on Protocol’s Miami 2015 compilation, and new Dutch talent Avedon for the new single “Hold On” – Out now!
When one of the most renowned music festivals in the world selects your track to feature in their promo movie, you know you’ve been inducted into the industry’s inner circle of serious players. Volt & State had their moment when their recent hit “Sandcastles” was chosen for the Ultra Brazil 2016 promo movie. Now, the Dutch duo are keeping the momentum going with their 8th track on Protocol Recordings, titled “Hold On”, which was premiered on Nicky Romero’s Protocol Radio #177. Sam Void and Avedon’s fresh spin on Volt & State’s progressive house persona makes the new distinguishable in a sea of monotonous releases in the genre.
With its theatrical synths over a deep and rhythmic bassline, “Hold On” excellently represents Volt & State’s prowess of moving both their listener’s bodies and minds. The track is a promise that no matter how many obstacles life throws in your path, there will always be that one person who will carry you through the heaviest of storms – and you’ll be dancing the whole way through!

NICKY ROMERO & STADIUMX – HARMONY IS OUT NOW!
As the year draws to a close, Nicky Romero has finally dropped his eagerly awaited collaboration with Budapest based duo Stadiumx ‘Harmony’ – out now via his esteemed Protocol Recordings imprint.
Played as an instrumental earlier this year during Nicky Romero’s emphatic Ultra Music Festival Set and fast becoming the most hotly-anticipated ID from this performance, it should come as no surprise they joined forces once again to whip up a sublime vocal rendition. Premiered on Protocol Radio last month to an overwhelming reception, ‘Harmony’ amassed a whopping 50k plays on SoundCloud within the first 24 hours. Keeping the original backbone and melody intact, Nicky Romero & Stadiumx effortlessly induce sky piercing synths alongside vocals curated by Georgia Ku. Drawing support from the likes of Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Tommy Trash, to name just a few, ‘Harmony’ has arrived just in time for the end of year and is sure to be a hit well into the New Year.
2015 has been yet another huge year for Romero. From appearances at every major festival across the globe, including Tomorrowland and EDC Vegas to a ground-breaking debut at Ultra Japan, not to mention his own sold out, road-blocking Protocol label nights in Miami, London, Amsterdam, nor forgetting landing a residency at OMNIA in Vegas, his live shows continue to prove why he is one of the world’s most in demand DJs. With the release of new material such as ‘Lighthouse’ – the first in the Nicky Romero Trilogy – and this collaboration with Stadiumx, Nicky has made a much welcome return to the production fore. With 2016 set to be a momentous year for the young star, Nicky will be ringing in the New Year at the famed Pier 94 venue in New York, alongside The Chainsmokers, Travis Scott and Ansolo for what is guaranteed to be an epic end of year celebration. Marking their third release on Protocol, Hungarian pair David and Sullivan – aka Stadiumx – have just cause to celebrate. With their first single ‘Howl At The Moon’ earning them the coveted Beatport #1 spot and going platinum, as well as a highly successful follow up on ‘Ghost’ it’s evident that when it comes to high-octane productions, these guys have got it mastered. Collaborating with none other than Protocol head-honcho Nicky Romero for their latest single, Stadiumx have put themselves on the map as ones to watch for 2016.
PROTOCOL ACAPELLAS VOL. 1
Nicky Romero’s highly acclaimed label Protocol Recordings has had one of its biggest years yet, from signing on pioneering new talent to releasing some of dance music’s most electrifying tracks such as ‘Warriors’, ‘Lighthouse’, ‘Sandcastles’ and many more. As if that wasn’t enough, Protocol specialists Volt & State are now offering an amazing opportunity for producers and fans alike by hosting a remix competition for their highly successful track, ‘Sandcastles’ via WAVO. With ‘Sandcastles’ racking up over 1.2 million plays on Spotify alone since its release, not to mention featuring in the official Ultra Brazil 2016 teaser, Volt & State are proving themsleves a production force to be reckoned with. Now they’re providing a thrilling gateway for all aspiring prodcuers to follow in their footsteps. Protocol Recordings and Volt & State will be judging the remixes and are welcoming every genre for this competition, encouraging contestants to think outside of the box in order to win.
Premiered on the main stage of Sensation in Canada earlier this year by Protocol head-honcho Nicky Romero and instantly garnering wide-spread acclaim throughout the dance music industry, Gazlind’s debut has already received overwhelming support from the likes of Nicky Romero, Axwell, Martin Garrix and Kaskade to name but a few.
Warped, modulated vocal samples are layered atop heavyweight, battering synths, gradually gathering momentum and hi-octane frequencies as the infectious ‘G-A-Z’ vocal hook is repeated, over and over until the tune’s monstrous drop. When the pulsating, killer bass kicks-in there really is no holding back, with a brutal drive and stealthy acidic undertones, the track proves itself to be a sure-fire club staple – brimming with pure euphoria and with an undulating, frenetic energy that is undeniably customized especially for the dance-floor.
Gazlind has been tearing up recent airwaves with an original blend of electro, trance and even rock-infused energy to create a unique and compelling sound. Whilst the identity of this talented producer continues to remain a mystery, with a steadily building catalogue of epic remixes and original productions, the dance music industry is inevitably intrigued as to who the mastermind behind such work could be. With a consistently growing online following and support from some of the biggest names in the game, excitement for what this coveted producer has in store for in the forthcoming year is at fever pitch.
FLORIAN PICASSO DROPS ‘WANT IT BACK (ORIGAMI)’
Supported by Nicky Romero, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, R3hab and more!
French wunderkind Florian Picasso has been taking the dance music world by storm and it’s clear to see why. Responsible for one of the hottest tracks of the summer, Florian is back with the stunning vocal edit ‘Want It Back (Origami)’ – out now on Protocol Recordings.
With the instrumental released earlier this year and earning spins from everyone from Nicky Romero, David Guetta, Tiesto, W&W and more – as well as being included in Martin Garrix’s almighty ‘Wizard Origami’ mash-up that featured in virtually every one of his sets this summer – it was only a matter of time before Florian followed up with a vocal rendition.
